Most clinics want digital x-ray systems for the cool things you can do with the images, like image enhancement, on-screen marking, paperless storage, network access and more.

Using your existing flat films and IRIS installed on your computer, you can do all that, and much more!

With a simple digital camera, or special flatbed scanner, you can convert your flat films into a legal digital image file that IRIS can:

In this age of documentation of medical necessity, a picture can be worth a thousand dollars. As in the difference of getting paid or not!

The ability to capture, view, mark, annotate, store and send images to a remote location has, until recently, been reserved to large hospital networks using mainframe computers. Now there's a better, and less expensive, solution to medical image analysis & storage. Now there's IRIS from VenturaDesigns.

Today's digital cameras take sharp, clear, still or motion images, with resolutions suitable for detailed analysis. We've designed an interface that's just as sharp and clear.

It's easy to take a digital picture of a wound, ROM exam, before & after cosmetics, or place a radiograph on a view box and capture the image.

Simply click on the "Add Image" button and IRIS is ready to import images in the following formats:

Still Images

gif, bmp, pcx, jpg

The images are placed as miniatures on the screen's "viewbox". To analyze, simply click on the desired image and you are taken to the edit screen. It's doesn't get any easier.

Incidentally, all critical operations are protected, if desired, by user passwords. This prevents unauthorized image viewing and editing.

IRIS will also import video clips for playback and still capturing. When a still image is captured from a video file, it is placed on the view box and can then be edited as any other image.

This feature is perfect for motion analysis like golf swings, workplace ergonomic evaluations, and any type of analysis where motion is involved.

New for version 2.0, Dual Screen Video Playback.

Full Motion Analysis
Windows XP and a digital camcorder makes it easy to capture and import avi video clips into IRIS for playback/capture on our special video interface.

During playback of any video clip, you can stop the action at an important action frame (keyframe) and save that keyframe as an image file to be analyzed in the IRIS image editor. Advance the video clip to the next keyframe, and capture that one as well. In no time you have created a storyboard of the important motion events.

Layered Analysis

By the time you are done marking a cervical radiograph, your file can look like a road map. With the IRIS layered analysis, you only see what you want to see. Each analysis (George's line, Atlas angle, etc.) can occupy a "layer" of the image, making only that layer visible. In the example above the image actually has both George's line and the Atlas Angle marked, but only the Atlas angle is visible. To make George's line visible, simply click on that layer.

Layered Notes

Using the same concept as the layered analysis, the layered notes feature allows detailed note taking for just the layer in use.

Password Protection

The ability to transmit IRIS files to a remote computer means using a high-level of security to prevent unauthorized viewing and editing of images. In the protected mode, only the original user can edit an image. The remote user can hide the drawing lines for analysis, but can't change the lines.

Accurate Distance Marker

The ability to track progress sometimes depends on the ability to measure distance on an image. Measuring the diameter of a lesion to track healing is just one example of how a distance marker would be used.

IRIS uses a reference marker placed on the file or on the skin to use as a reference. Simply use the distance setting tool to measure two points of a known item (marker) and tell IRIS the number of mm between the two points.

The software automatically adjusts for different monitors and screen resolutions.

Accurate to within .8%!

Remote Send and Receive

IRIS was developed from the ground up with remote capabilities in mind. The user can send encrypted files to a remote computer, across town or across the world, for viewing on another IRIS system. Perfect for sending x-ray images to a radiologist, or to an IME for review. It's as easy as attaching files to an e-mail message.

In build 2.0 you can automatically compress and password protect a single image, or an entire collection. These image files can be viewed by any user with the password and a Windows computer.

Optional Plug-in Modules

IRIS was created to be the central "hub" around which other unique software programs could be attached.

For example, if you have our Posture Pro software installed on your system, you can use IRIS to open and view Posture Pro exams. Store files and even print reports.
